ABOUT I-BIZZLE

I-Bizzle is a fast-rising lyricist who sees himself different from the norm or like he puts it ‘cut from a different cloth’.

His sojourn into music started way back in high-school when he used to beat-box and play around with words with his classmates.

He took it a step further during His time in Obafemi Awolowo University where he had his first stage performance with ‘D Crew’ (a secular rap group) but then switched up his style when he got born-again and then begun His gospel rap career. He joined the defunct gospel rap group ‘Rev Kru’ and carved a niche for himself as his lyrical & delivery prowess soared in school.

He also set up a 2 man rap group called ‘Da Deep Thotz’ in his final year and were well known for dropping red hot barz that would hold you spell bound and keep you at the edge of your seat.

Fast forward to this present time, He is an On-Air Personality with Beat FM Ibadan. He is currently working on his mixtape, a body of work which includes both old and new materials.

His musical influences include Nas, Lecrae, Common & J Cole.

IVYSCRIBBLES

I met a teenager today who is nine months pregnant. She was in labour and her eyes were teary. These tears were not just from the physical pain of contractions. She had very many thoughts running through her mind. This pregnancy was not planned for. In her wildest dreams, she had not seen herself at this age in a delivery room; having a baby. She was raped and her whole world turned upside down.

The true incidence of rape is not known because many people who have been sexually assaulted do not present to the hospital or report the case. It’s a gruelling, terrible and traumatic experience. Thus, the medical and emotional care that they need is usually forfeited due to the disillusion and stigma associated with this dark plague. The essence of this post is to highlight the importance of a medical check-up after sexual assault. A medical assessment…

#NoToFemaleCircumcision

Diary of the Traveler

Editor’s note: Hey people, how are we doing? Quick one, you all know I just completed a series on the cultural practice of Female Genital Mutilation in the name of Female circumcision. An ardent reader of this blog was inspired by that series to come up with this short story. I love it at first glance. It resonated deeply with the message we are trying to pass across. Let us end FGM in Nigeria. #EndFGMng

It’s the best experience any girl could pray for I was told

Mama says the best moment every girl wanted

The birth of the woman in me
Admiring my image in the mirror was all I seem to do daily

As I await my glorious day as mama called it
For weeks myself and Ougene talked about it

Making us the envy of the younglings

She would twist her neck and say “I will soon…

TEMPTATION IS A CHOICE …

She walks in looking like an angel
Heaven must be searching frantically for it’s missing beauty
Or maybe she’s the goddess of beauty
So enchanting, so endearing
Like metal to magnet
I’m drawn to her

Now I know we’re too close for comfort
And I’m threading that alert line
All alarms are blazing
Yet I’m choosing to ignore

I’m contemplating
She seems like a better replacement
I’m choosing to see only her good sides
Although I can sight the other shades to her
But I’m fighting all these restraints
I think she can fill up this void I have

Throwing away caution
In the heat of passion
But just at the nick of time
I remember I have a good woman at home

The beautiful face I fell in love with flashed my mind
Yes we have had our issues
But she used to look like a goddess
I think she still does
I just got too used to her
And stopped seeing her as such

I’m battling all these emotions
I know I still love her
But if I claim to love her
I should respect her

I’m sorry girl
I can’t do this
I love a good woman
And she’s at home

Woman in the Wind

I’ve been staring at the screen of my laptop for a while and the words aren’t just coming to me. So I thought about this song that has been on repeat on my playlist recently and I’m going to share a few things about how that song touched me.

The song by the way is Steve Crown’s ‘We wait on You.’

I heard this song for the first time when I was in a bus on my way home after having a rather long and overwhelming day.

It was about three weeks ago, I think; I went for a meeting in Lekki and all was going well until I started my journey back to the mainland. I really do not like going to the Island using public transport but I need to be prudent with my money because I have set some serious financial goals for myself. So I save…
